The foldable iPhone is rumored to launch in 2026, with details remaining scarce. According to leakster Digital Chat Station, this device may feature a 5.49” cover display, compared to the original Oppo Find N’s 5.49” display, but in a different aspect ratio. The inner display is reportedly 7.74” and unfolds like an iPad, slightly larger than the Find N’s 7.1”. This foldable iPhone is not to be confused with the anticipated “foldable iPad,” which is expected to be much larger, possibly launching in 2028. Additionally, a flip foldable iPhone is also in development.
The much-anticipated foldable iPhone seems to still be a couple of years away, with the latest reports indicating a launch in 2026 at the earliest. Unsurprisingly, details about this device are scarce. However, leakster Digital Chat Station claims to have insider information about the phone and its purported screen specifications.
This device is referred to as “Apple’s big foldable” (distinct from the foldable iPad) and features a 5.49” cover display that is “somewhat reminiscent of the Find N” but is shorter and narrower. If this alludes to the original Find N, we’re looking at a comparison with a 5.49” 18:9 display. A shorter and wider ratio could be around 16:9, which, while nostalgic, feels somewhat outdated.

Regarding the inner display, it is rumored to be 7.74” and “unfolds like an iPad,” whatever that could imply. This size exceeds the Find N’s display (7.1”), but it’s logical if the cover display indeed has a different aspect ratio.
For context, the iPad mini sports an 8.3” screen, although its 3:2 aspect ratio is broader than the typical nearly-square inner displays found in foldables. Nonetheless, this could potentially serve as a replacement for the iPad mini.
However, it’s essential to note that this likely isn’t the “foldable iPad” that has been discussed – that model is expected to be significantly larger, unfolding to the size of two iPad Pros side by side. Its release might be pushed back to 2028, though 2026 has also been suggested, leading to considerable uncertainty. Additionally, a flip foldable is also reportedly in development.
