Lady Gaga’s upcoming album, “Mayhem,” may signal her long-awaited return to Australia, as she hinted at potential tour announcements during an interview on Australian radio. She expressed her fondness for Australia and her fans, reminiscing about past visits, the last being in 2014. Gaga’s previous tours skipped Australia, and she hopes to reconnect with her audience soon. “Mayhem,” her seventh studio album, features a mix of genres, reflecting influences from artists like Radiohead. She emphasized that the album was created for fun, without being confined by external expectations.
Lady Gaga’s upcoming album could signal a much-awaited return to Australia.
The artist recently joined The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick show to talk about her soon-to-be-released album Mayhem, and hinted at the possibility of revealing her first Australian tour dates in over ten years.
“I can’t officially announce anything, but I can say that I’ll be sharing… some news,” she laughed, reminiscing about her time in Australia. “I really miss my fans there. I have such cherished memories of Australia; it’s a stunning country, and I genuinely want to return soon.”
It has been nearly 11 years since Gaga last performed in Australia, with her last show occurring in August 2014 during the artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball tour. Although that tour supported her fourth album Artpop, she missed Australia on her subsequent tours for 2016’s Joanne and 2020’s Chromatica.
Gaga was previously a regular visitor to Australia, touring annually and making promotional appearances between official tours. In July 2011, she was granted honorary citizenship of Sydney by Lord Mayor Clover Moore for her support of the LGBTQI+ community during her visit.
Gaga’s seventh album, Mayhem, is set to release soon, with all her prior solo studio albums reaching the top of the Billboard 200 (except for 2008’s The Fame, which peaked at No. 2). During her interview with Fifi, Fev & Nick, she reiterated her earlier comments that the album drew inspiration from artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.
“This album incorporates numerous genres; from ‘90s grunge and industrial music to funk and ‘80s synth pop… it’s a mix of all my favorite elements,” she shared. “That’s why I called it Mayhem – because it embodies chaos.”
In a conversation with Billboard before Mayhem‘s launch, Gaga expressed her commitment to creating a genre-blending work of art, disregarding prior expectations for the album.
“I have felt pressure over the years to validate myself as a musician,” she confessed. “At times, that hindered my enjoyment. Thus, I aimed to have a lot of fun while making this album.”
