Mack’s performance, alongside Nicole Faltum’s 62, helped Green declare at 214 for 4. Gold’s first innings totaled 248, with Emma de Broughe scoring 84, while Georgia Prestwidge took 5-31. In the second innings, Lilly Mills’ exceptional bowling led to Gold being all out for 127, with Charli Knott scoring 59. The match showcased emerging talent ahead of the upcoming Australia A series against England A, marking a crucial part of the women’s domestic calendar.

Katie Mack overshadowed the women’s Australia A team by scoring an unbeaten century during a three-day red-ball warm-up match in Canberra, which served as preparation for Australia’s emerging stars ahead of England A’s visit.

Mack scored 102 not out for CA Green in the third innings against CA Gold, contributing to Green’s 121-run victory. Nicole Faltum, captain of the 50-over and four-day Australia A squads and a new addition to the Australia T20I lineup, also played a crucial role with 62 runs. In addition, offspinner Lilly Mills excelled with seven wickets, including 5 for 28, leading to Gold’s total of 127 on the final day.

Despite being one of the few players not selected for any of the three Australia A squads for the upcoming multiformat series against England A, which includes three T20s, three 50-over matches, and a four-day game in Sydney, Mack, aged 31, was the standout performer.

In the third innings of the match, Mack and Faltum formed a formidable partnership, scoring 137 runs together, which solidified the victory after Green had taken a first-innings lead, bolstered by 62 runs from Sianna Ginger on day one and a brilliant 5 for 31 from Georgia Prestwidge on day two. For Gold, Emma de Broughe scored 84 in the first innings, narrowing the lead to just 34 runs.

Both Mack and Faltum thrived in their third innings before Faltum declared, setting Gold a target of 249 runs on the last day. Ginger struck early with the new ball, securing two wickets and showcasing a strong all-around performance, while Mills dismantled the middle and lower order, claiming five of the last six wickets to bowl Gold out. Charli Knott was the only Gold batter to surpass 17 runs on the final day, finishing with 59.

The Green vs. Gold three-day match has rapidly become a vital component of the women’s domestic cricket schedule, providing emerging players with essential long-form experience. Last year, Georgia Voll made an unbeaten 200 in this match, while Alana King notched a four-wicket haul on the final day before excelling against England in the Ashes Test at the MCG.
