The New York Islanders have hired Mathieu Darche as their new general manager and executive vice president, succeeding Lou Lamoriello, who left in April. Darche, 48, previously served as the director of hockey operations for the Tampa Bay Lightning and has a rich background in hockey and business. He expressed honor in taking the role and thanked the ownership group for their trust. Collins, the Islanders’ operating partner, praised Darche as the ideal choice to enhance the team’s performance and business initiatives. Darche’s career also includes 12 seasons as a player in the NHL and AHL.

At 48 years old, Darche previously served as the director of hockey operations for the Lightning.

Prior to his executive role, Darche spent 12 seasons playing in both the NHL and AHL.
Throughout his NHL career, he played for the Blue Jackets, Predators, Sharks, Lightning, and Canadiens.
