Infant Discovered Deceased Between Train Carriages Near Delhi Railway Station, Say Police

In New Delhi, the body of a newborn baby was discovered on the couplers between two train coaches at the railway station. The infant, covered in blood but with no external injuries, appears to have been abandoned shortly after birth. The Railway Protection Force found the body, which was subsequently taken to Kalavati Hospital and then to the LHMC Mortuary for postmortem and identification. Police suspect the newborn was left to conceal parental identity and have initiated an investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage and collecting evidence to identify those responsible.

New Delhi:

The remains of a newborn were discovered on the couplers between two train coaches parked near the New Delhi Railway Station, according to police reports on Monday. The body was found with blood but showed no visible injuries. Initial indications suggest that the newborn may have been abandoned right after birth, officials noted.

A senior police official stated that the remains were located on the couplers between two coaches of a train located at the Rajdhani Complex adjacent to the railway station.

A coupler is a metallic structure that connects train coaches.

This alarming find was made by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and a police team was promptly dispatched to the area. The body was carefully retrieved and transported to Kalavati Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced the infant dead. The remains were later moved to the LHMC Mortuary for postmortem examination and identification, the official reported.

Initial investigations imply that the newborn may have been intentionally abandoned in an effort to hide the parents’ identities, the police remarked, noting that a crime scene team was called in to document the area, collect evidence, and take photographs.

“Investigative teams are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence to identify those accountable,” the official stated.
