India secured their place in the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals after New Zealand triumphed over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Monday. Rachin Ravindra demonstrated exceptional skill with a century, while Michael Bracewell’s outstanding bowling performance led New Zealand to a 5-wicket win over Bangladesh. As a result, New Zealand is now the second team from Group A to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament. Unfortunately, this outcome means that both Bangladesh and Pakistan are eliminated, as they have suffered two losses each. India will compete against New Zealand in their final group stage match, while Bangladesh will face Pakistan, but both matches will only determine which team tops the group on the way to the semifinals.
New Zealand overcame Bangladesh by five wickets in a Champions Trophy Group A clash on Monday, a result that secured both the Kiwis and India a spot in the semifinals. With this victory, Bangladesh and home team Pakistan, both having lost their two matches thus far, were knocked out of the tournament.
Currently, both India and New Zealand hold four points from two wins each in Group A, as the top two teams from each group qualify for the semifinals.
Rachin Ravindra (112) delivered a spectacular century as New Zealand chased down the target of 237 runs with 23 balls to spare.
Tom Latham and Devon Conway contributed with 55 and 30 runs, respectively, enabling New Zealand to finish at 240 for 5 in 46.1 overs.
Earlier, Michael Bracewell took four wickets, helping restrict Bangladesh to a modest total of 236 for 9, despite Najmul Hossain Shanto’s notable 77 runs.
Bracewell dismissed Tanzid Hasan (24), Mushfiqur Rahim (2), Mahmudullah (4), and Towhid Hridoy (7), who had previously scored a century, ending with impressive figures of 10-0-26-4.
