On Wednesday, India’s ace batsman Virat Kohli climbed in the latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings following his remarkable 51st ODI century during a match against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai. According to the ICC, Kohli moved up to fifth place in the updated rankings for ODI batters, marking a return to the top tier of players. This positions three Indian batters within the top five, as opener Shubman Gill (first) and skipper Rohit Sharma (third) held their ground thanks to their impressive performances in the ongoing Champions Trophy.

Gill further expanded his lead at the summit of the rankings, while former Pakistan captain Babar Azam remained in second place despite a challenging campaign at the Champions Trophy so far.

Kohli is the sole player at the Champions Trophy who made progress within the top 10 for ODI batters, although several notable players are poised to edge into the top tier according to the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday.

Will Young (up eight spots to 14th), Ben Duckett (up 27 places to joint 17th), and Rachin Ravindra (up 18 positions to 24th) are among the standout climbers after impressive centuries in the tournament.
