Huawei has launched the bi-fold Mate XT Ultimate for €3,500, featuring an exposed section near one hinge as a notable drawback. To address potential damage, the company offers a free screen replacement for the first year. The device includes a bi-foldable 10.2-inch LTPO OLED display, which contracts to 7.9 inches when partially folded and 6.4 inches when fully closed. It boasts 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, measuring just 3.6 mm when unfolded. While camera capabilities weren’t the main focus, initial samples indicate satisfactory performance, enhancing the device’s appeal despite its high price.
Huawei has officially launched the bi-fold Mate XT Ultimate in international markets at a hefty price of €3,500. One notable downside of this smartphone is the exposed area of the foldable screen near one of the hinges. Nonetheless, the company has stated that it will offer a complimentary screen replacement for the first year, no matter the cause of the damage.
This announcement was confirmed by Huawei executives during our meeting after the global introduction of the phone in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate boasts a bi-foldable LTPO OLED display manufactured by BOE. When deployed as a tablet, the screen measures 10.2 inches diagonally. Folding back the leftmost section reduces it to 7.9 inches, and in its fully folded state, it morphs into a 6.4-inch smartphone.
This global variant offers 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Impressively, the phone has a thickness of just 3.6 mm when unfolded, showcasing remarkable engineering.
We had some hands-on experience with the Mate XT in the capital of Malaysia and captured various camera samples, which can be found here. While camera performance may not have been the main priority for Huawei’s designers in this premium device, it’s encouraging to see that its capabilities meet high standards, especially given its significant price point.
