Huawei recently unveiled its latest wearables, including the MatePad Pro 12.2″ tablet and Freebuds 6 TWS earbuds. The tablet features a 12.2″ PaperMatte display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, dual cameras (50MP and 8MP), and retains a lightweight body with a 10,100 mAh battery. It is powered by the Kirin 9000S chipset and comes with a magnetic keyboard, priced at €849.99 for the base model. The Freebuds 6, now available, offer AI noise cancelling and a lightweight design, priced at £139.99. Both products emphasize enhanced audio experience and performance.
Today, Huawei hosted an event to unveil its newest wearables, including a new tablet and the international launch of a fresh pair of TWS earbuds.
The tablet, named MatePad Pro 12.2″, is a natural progression from the 2024 version released last summer. It features a PaperMatte display with a Tandem OLED panel underneath, while maintaining the same 508g weight, a robust 10,100 mAh battery, and 100W wired charging capability.
The earbuds, known as Freebuds 6, have been available in China since March 2025. They come equipped with AI noise cancellation and a revamped audio driver for enhanced sound clarity.
The MatePad Pro features a 12.2″ display with a resolution of 2,800 x 1840 pixels and a peak brightness upgrade to 3,000 nits. Thanks to the PaperMatte technology, this tablet effectively minimizes glare and reflections.
On the back, the tablet boasts a dual camera arrangement, including a 50 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide camera, perfect for capturing those rare group shots with a 12-inch device.
Huawei tends to keep details about its chipsets under wraps, but we can infer that it likely operates on the Kirin 9000S platform – this remains unconfirmed. The tablet features EMUI for the international market; however, it is not available in China, leaving us uncertain if it uses Huawei’s proprietary HarmonyOS Next.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2″ includes a magnetic keyboard in its package. The 12/256 GB model is priced at €849.99 (unavailable in the UK), while the 12/512 GB version, which uniquely sports the PaperMatte display, retails for £899.99/€999.99.
The Freebuds 6 feature a distinctive waterdrop-shaped (referred to as droplet) stem, which is 12% smaller and 9% lighter than the previous model. Huawei incorporates AI for multi-channel noise reduction, effectively filtering up to 95 dB of extraneous noise.
The company highlighted a feature first seen in the Freebuds Pro 4—enhanced call clarity in noisy environments, like concerts or sports games. While the Freebuds 6 includes an AI agent in China, this feature is turned off in international versions.
The Huawei Freebuds 6 are priced at £139.99/€159.99 and are now available for purchase on the Huawei Store.
