Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja are reportedly facing a divorce after 37 years of marriage. In the midst of the swirling rumors, Govinda addressed the speculation in an interview with ETimes.
He kept his response brief without sharing specific details. When ETimes inquired about the various claims regarding issues in his marriage, the Hero No 1 star replied, “There are only business talks happening… I am in the process of starting my films.” Sunita did not respond to ETimes’ inquiry about the divorce rumors.
When ETimes reached out to Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, he stated, “There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by some family members. There’s nothing more to it, and Govinda is in the process of starting a film for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to find a resolution.”
On Wednesday, several reports suggested that Govinda’s marriage has faced challenges for some time now. It is believed that the couple has been living separately recently.
Speculation about their separation intensified when Sunita Ahuja shared insights about their private life during several recent interviews.
In an interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita Ahuja chuckled when asked about Govinda’s romantic side. “I’ve told him that in my next life, he shouldn’t be my husband. He never goes on holidays. I am someone who enjoys going out with my husband to eat pani-puri on the streets. He spends too much time working. I can’t remember a single instance when we went out together to watch a movie,” she revealed.
Amid these swirling rumors, ETimes cited a source stating, “Sunita reportedly sent a separation notice a few months ago, but there hasn’t been any progress since then.”
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja tied the knot in March 1987 and announced their marriage after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. They later welcomed a son, Yashvardhan, in 1997.
