Google has officially announced its new Gemini model, featuring personalized responses based on user search history. Labeled as “experimental,” this option is currently available for Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers on the web, with a gradual rollout planned for mobile in over 45 languages, excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. The model connects with Google apps, starting with Search, to provide tailored responses. Initially limited to search history, it will soon integrate with Google Photos and YouTube. Users can control their data and choose when their history enhances responses.
Recently, an examination of the Google app uncovered a forthcoming Gemini model designed to personalize outputs using your search history. Today, Google has officially announced this feature.
The newly introduced model is named Gemini with personalization, or simply “Personalization” in the Gemini model selector. As anticipated, it is categorized as “experimental” and is currently accessible to Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers on the web. A mobile rollout is expected to occur “gradually,” and it will support “over 45 languages” across “most countries around the globe,” though it won’t be available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the UK.
By selecting this model, Gemini will link with your Google apps and services, starting with Search, to provide more insightful, personalized responses. Currently, it can only access your search history, but it is expected to also connect with Google Photos and YouTube “in the coming months.”
If you wish to utilize it immediately, Gemini will analyze your requests and assess whether your search history “can enhance the response.” Google emphasizes that “you’re in control of your info” and can unlink your search history from Gemini at any time.
Your search history won’t be applied to every inquiry, but only when Google’s “advanced reasoning models” determine it to be beneficial.
