Google is reportedly set to introduce the Pixel Sense assistant, powered by Gemini Nano, alongside the Pixel 10 series later this year. This new contextual assistant will integrate with Google’s first-party apps, including Phone, Messages, and Gmail, enabling it to perform tasks on behalf of users. Pixel Sense will offer contextual predictions based on app usage and support multimodal input, processing voice, text, and images. Notably, data processing will occur entirely on-device, allowing some functionalities to operate offline. This marks an advancement over previous assistant offerings as it aims to enhance user interaction and efficiency.
Last year, there were speculations about Google introducing an exclusive “Pixie” smart assistant alongside the Pixel 9 series, but that did not come to fruition. A recent report indicates that Google is now set to unveil its Pixel Sense assistant, powered by Gemini Nano, with the Pixel 10 series later this year.
This new smart contextual assistant will have the ability to access various applications and perform tasks on behalf of users. According to the report, Pixel Sense will be integrated with all of Google’s first-party apps, including Phone, Messages, Photos, Maps, Gmail, Docs, Chrome, Files, YouTube, Recorder, and Keep Notes.
Pixel Sense will autonomously complete tasks and routines, while also providing contextual predictions based on the Google apps and services utilized by the user. The upgraded assistant will support multimodal processing, allowing it to handle voice, text, and image inputs. It is said that all data processing will occur entirely on the device, with some functionalities capable of running even when offline.
