FromSoftware Is Developing a New Vampire-Themed Game for Nintendo Switch 2, Though It Isn’t Bloodborne 2

During today’s Nintendo Direct, a new FromSoftware game titled “The Duskbloods” was revealed for the Nintendo Switch 2, set to release in 2026. Created by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the vampire-themed game is not a Bloodborne sequel, as that title is owned by Sony. The trailer features a gothic world filled with dark imagery and familiar FromSoftware enemies, alongside a player character who appears to be a vampire. Players can expect a PvPvE multiplayer experience with co-op elements. This announcement also underscores FromSoftware’s commitment to supporting the Switch 2, including bringing “Elden Ring” to the platform.

Towards the conclusion of today’s Nintendo Direct 2, we witnessed an astonishing announcement: a brand new FromSoftware game, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, created by Hidetaka Miyazaki. It’s centered around vampires, yet it isn’t Bloodborne 2. The title is The Duskbloods, and its release is slated for 2026.

The trailer begins with a man who seems to be either asleep or deceased, slumped on a chair. A woman’s hand reaches for his dangling hand from the floor, as her voice narrates, “I give you my blood. I give you my life. Turn a wheel, and transport him to a night of moonlight, to humanity’s very dusk.” As she pulls away her hand, she leaves a marked symbol on his.

The remainder of the trailer unveils a dark, gothic environment filled with chapels, railroads, towering structures, dim lighting, cemeteries, bats, massive statues, and a plethora of classic FromSoftware foes. At one point, a character is seen soaring through the air with a jetpack. A large, haunting moon looms overhead. We also see dramatic weapons including swords, guns, and various magical elements in action.

The protagonist, the individual introduced at the start, seems to be a vampire, as there’s a scene where he viciously bites into an enemy’s neck. It looks like cooperative play will be a feature, as another character is summoned alongside the player, seemingly ready to engage in battle together. FromSoftware has announced via social media that Duskbloods is a “PvPvE-focused multiplayer action title.”

In essence, this appears to be the sequel to Bloodborne that fans have been eager for, although it isn’t branded as Bloodborne. This is likely due to Sony holding the rights to Bloodborne and their lack of interest in producing a sequel despite significant fan enthusiasm. The Duskbloods may very well serve as FromSoftware’s response to that desire, giving Nintendo Switch 2 players a unique experience. It also seems that FromSoftware is fully committed to supporting the Switch 2, as they are set to bring Elden Ring to the platform as well.

At launch, we awarded Bloodborne a score of 9.1/10, noting that it “delivers an exhausting and exhilarating journey into the depths of madness.”
