Former cricketer Atul Wassan shocked many by expressing his desire for Pakistan to triumph over India in the highly anticipated Champions Trophy match in Dubai this Sunday. In this clash of titans, Pakistan seeks to maintain its title defense against its fierce rival, India. The team found itself in a challenging position after a 60-run loss to New Zealand in the tournament’s opening match.
If the Men in Green falter again against India, they will face an uphill battle, requiring numerous scenarios to unfold in their favor to keep their campaign alive. Wassan feels that the tournament would become significantly more thrilling if Pakistan were to win this crucial match.
“I want Pakistan to win because it will be exciting for the tournament. If you don’t allow Pakistan to win, what will be left? A victory for Pakistan makes it a contest. There should be a level playing field,” Wassan told ANI.
Wassan analyzed India’s squad for the ongoing Champions Trophy and praised their batting depth in the lineup. Considering the prevailing conditions, he supported India’s decision to field a spin-heavy attack in Dubai, deeming it the best strategy.

While Pakistan started its campaign on a disappointing note, India comfortably secured a six-wicket victory against Bangladesh to register their first win.
