First Impressions of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra

Xiaomi showcased the SU7 Ultra at the Mobile World Congress, highlighting its enhanced aerodynamic design, featuring a longer, lower body and significant downforce of 285 kg. Powered by three motors—two V8s and one V6—the Ultra delivers a total output of 1,530 ps and a torque of 1,770 Nm, achieving a top speed of 350 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of just 2 seconds. It draws energy from a 93.7 kWh battery, offering a theoretical range of 630 km. Priced between RMB 529,900 and RMB 814,900, the SU7 Ultra has already garnered around 19,000 orders, nearly sold out for two years.

This marks our initial encounter with the SU7 Ultra, and we hope to have many more in the future.

The SU7 Ultra stands as the premier version of the SU7, featuring significant changes, particularly in its body panels.

Its design prioritizes aerodynamics, making the car longer and lower than the standard SU7. The front bumper boasts a large splitter, complemented by a sizable wing at the rear to enhance downforce and traction. Xiaomi claims the SU7 Ultra generates an impressive 285 kg of downforce.

Power is another standout aspect. The SU7 Ultra delivers more than double the power of the SU7 Max. It harnesses three motors produced by Xiaomi—a pair of V8s each offering 578 ps, 425 kW, and 635 Nm, alongside a V6 generating 374 ps, 275 kW, and 500 Nm. This leads to a staggering total output of 1,530 ps and 1,770 Nm (1305 lb-ft), enabling a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) and a 0-100 km/h time of just 2 seconds.

The vehicle is powered by a 93.7 kWh CATL Qilin 2.0 liquid-cooled 800V battery, which theoretically achieves a range of up to 630 km (CLTC), though it’s unlikely that most drivers will operate the SU7 Ultra with this level of efficiency.

With a gross weight of 5,853 lb, the SU7 Ultra requires high-performance braking capabilities. Xiaomi has equipped the vehicle with large ceramic brakes that can endure temperatures of up to 1300°C (2370°F).
