The Indian cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his spouse Dhanashree Verma have initiated divorce proceedings. Dhanashree’s attorney has confirmed that the process is ongoing but refrained from offering additional comments as the case is ‘currently sub judice’. Recently, there have been numerous reports concerning their divorce, with some suggesting that Dhanashree, a well-known social media influencer and content creator, has requested Rs 60 crore in alimony from Chahal. Nevertheless, a family member of Dhanashree has categorically dismissed these rumors, cautioning against the ‘spreading of misinformation’ as reported by multiple media outlets.

“We are extremely disturbed by the unfounded allegations regarding the alimony amount. To be unequivocally clear—no such figure has been requested, demanded, or even suggested. These rumors are entirely untrue. It is highly irresponsible to circulate unverified information that not only affects the individuals involved but also their families, leading to unwarranted speculation. Irresponsible reporting like this causes real harm, and we implore the media to practice caution and verify facts before disseminating misinformation, while also respecting the privacy of all parties,” the statement read.

There have also been claims that the divorce has already been finalized; however, Dhanashree’s legal representatives have clarified that no official ruling has been rendered.

“I have no comments to offer regarding the proceedings; the matter is currently sub judice. The media ought to verify facts before publishing, as a substantial amount of misleading information is being circulated,” Dhanashree’s lawyer Aditi Mohan stated in a press release on Friday afternoon.

Chahal recently posted on social media, stating: “God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only imagine the times I’ve been rescued that I don’t even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don’t know it. Amen.”

Dhanashree also shared a message about faith on her Instagram, saying, “From stressed to blessed. Isn’t it incredible how God can transform our worries and challenges into blessings? If you’re worrying about something today, remember that you have a choice. You can either continue worrying or surrender everything to God and choose to pray about it. There is immense power in having faith that God can bring all things together for your benefit.”
