Educator Placed on Leave Following Viral Rant About Bihar

A primary teacher in Jehanabad, Bihar, named Dipali Sah, was suspended after a profanity-laden video surfaced in which she criticized her assignment location, labeling it “India’s worst region.” She claimed that the people of Bihar lacked civic sense and suggested that India’s development was tied to the state’s presence. New Delhi:

A primary school teacher in Jehanabad, Bihar, has been suspended following the circulation of a video filled with expletives, in which she expressed confusion over what “mistake” led to her placement in what she referred to as “India’s worst region.” In the video, the teacher claimed that the people of Bihar possess “no civic sense” and that India is considered a developing country primarily due to the inclusion of Bihar.

In the video – which has not been independently verified by NDTV – the Kendriya Vidyalaya teacher, who was serving on probation, remarked in a blend of Hindi and English, “Kendriya Vidyalaya is located in numerous regions across Bihar. People aren’t fond of the Kolkata region, yet I was open to that. I had no issues being anywhere in Bengal. One of my friends is assigned to Darjeeling; can you imagine? Another one is in Silchar, Northeast, wow… What enmity do they have against me that I was assigned to India’s worst f*****g region?”

“They could have allocated me to Goa, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, any place in the South, or even Ladakh, which is a challenging station,” she further added.

The latter part of the video, presumably filmed after her relocation to Bihar, features the teacher stating that the residents of the state possess “zero civic sense,” a sentiment she reiterates multiple times.

“I believe India is a developing country solely because Bihar is part of it. The day Bihar is removed from India, it will become developed. People lack civic sense; they have ruined the Indian Railways,” she stated.

Following the video’s viral spread, Samastipur MP Shambhavi dispatched a letter to the commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, labeling the comments as “inappropriate, unacceptable, and unbecoming of an educator.”

The MP also requested stringent action against the teacher, identified as Dipali Sah.

“I am writing to formally express my strong objection to the recent comments made by Dipali Sah, a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jehanabad, Bihar, whose video containing offensive remarks about Bihar and its residents has gone viral. Such statements are entirely inappropriate, unacceptable, and unbecoming of an educator tasked with imparting knowledge and values to students… This incident has significantly hurt the sentiments of the people of Bihar, and immediate action is essential to preserve the trust and integrity of the institution,” Ms. Choudhary wrote.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has suspended the teacher, with a statement from its regional office in Patna declaring, “In accordance with rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, Deepali, the primary teacher on probation, posted at KVS (Jehanabad), is suspended with immediate effect. She will report to KVS, Mashrakh, in Saran district.”
