Dyson Daniels, Draymond Green, Amen Thompson, Luguentz Dort, and Evan Mobley were named to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team, with Green marking his first selection since the 2020-21 season. This is Mobley’s second time on the team, having won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year title. Daniels, Dort, and Thompson received their first honors. Rudy Gobert, Jaren Jackson Jr., Toumani Camara, Jalen Williams, and Ivica Zubac were named to the Second Team, with Gobert marking his eighth selection. Mobley topped the voting with 99 of 100 first-team ballots.
On Thursday, the NBA announced the selections for the All-Defensive First Team, which includes Dyson Daniels, Draymond Green, Amen Thompson, Luguentz Dort, and Evan Mobley.
This marks Green’s ninth selection to the NBA All-Defensive team, but it’s the first time he has been named to the first team since the 2020-21 season. His comeback comes a year after he was not chosen for the All-Defensive team, having played only 55 games. According to NBA regulations, players must compete in at least 65 games to qualify for the All-Defensive team.
Mobley, the recipient of this season’s NBA Defensive Player of the Year award, has now been named to the All-Defensive team twice, having also earned the honor during the 2022-23 season.

This is the first instance of Daniels, Dort, and Thompson receiving All-Defensive team recognition. Dort’s selection is likely to please Charles Barkley, who previously disparaged voters for overlooking Dort’s defensive talents.

In addition, Toumani Camara, Rudy Gobert, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jalen Williams, and Ivica Zubac were announced as members of the second team.
This marks Gobert’s eighth career selection to the All-Defensive team, but it’s his first as a second-team member.
Gobert previously made the first team in all seven of his other selections and is a four-time Defensive Player of the Year due to his exceptional rebounding and shot-blocking skills.

Jackson shares a similar narrative, making the All-Defensive team for the third time but debuting as a second-team selection. He received the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023.
Camara, Williams, and Zubac are also first-time honorees on the NBA All-Defensive team.
The NBA released complete voting results for the All-Defensive teams as well. Mobley was the top vote-getter, achieving first-team recognition on 99 out of 100 ballots. Only one individual placed him on the second team.
It seems voters had little difficulty selecting the first team, as Thompson garnered the least number of first-team votes among his peers with 74. Zubac, the next highest, received 29 first-team votes.
