The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has canceled the class 10 board examinations for Hindi and Science following the leak of exam papers on social media. The Hindi exam occurred on February 18, with the Science exam scheduled for February 20. JAC announced that re-examinations for these subjects will be conducted later. This year’s board exams began on February 11, with over 7.84 lakh students enrolled, including more than 4.33 lakh for class 10 exams held in the morning, and 3.50 lakh for class 12 exams in the afternoon, across various examination centers in Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) announced on Thursday the cancellation of the class 10 board examinations for the Hindi and Science subjects due to alleged leaks of the exam papers, which spread widely on social media, according to a JAC official.
The Hindi exam was conducted on February 18, while the Science exam was set to take place on Thursday.
“All students, their parents, concerned principals, centre superintendents, and relevant officials are hereby informed that, based on information received from social media and newspapers, the examinations for Hindi (Course A & Course B) held during the first sitting on February 18 and the Science examination scheduled for February 20 are cancelled,” JAC, a government authority, stated in a notice.
The notice further mentioned that re-examinations for these subjects would be organized at a later date.
The class 10 (matriculation) and class 12 (Intermediate) board examinations commenced under strict security measures throughout Jharkhand on February 11.
More than 7.84 lakh students are registered to participate in both board examinations, which are being conducted in two separate sittings.
The class 10 examinations are scheduled for the first sitting (9.45 am to 1 pm), whereas the class 12 examinations are taking place in the second sitting (2 pm to 5.15 pm).
Over 4.33 lakh students are anticipated to appear for the class 10 examinations across 1,297 examination centres, while upwards of 3.50 lakh students are expected to participate in intermediate examinations at 789 centres.
