CIRP: Rising Demand for iPhone 16 as Affordable 16e Launches Strongly

Apple’s iPhone 16e has shown strong initial demand, outperforming the 2022 iPhone SE, according to CIRP’s report. In Q1, 74% of Apple’s sales were from the iPhone 16 family, up from 68% for the iPhone 15 last year. Priced at $600, the iPhone 16e captured a 7% share of overall sales, surpassing the SE’s launch performance. While the iPhone 16 outperformed the 15, other flagship models did not match their 2024 predecessors’ success. The 16e’s appeal lies in its A18 chip and 6.1″ OLED display, despite lacking features like Dynamic Island and MagSafe support.

CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners) reports that Apple experienced robust initial demand for the iPhone 16e. This model has outperformed its predecessor, the 2022 iPhone SE, in the U.S. market.

The report indicates that demand for the latest iPhone models was notably higher in Q1, with 74% of all phones sold by Apple belonging to the iPhone 16 family, compared to a 68% share for the iPhone 15 series last year.

With a price tag of $600, the iPhone 16e is considered a midrange device in Apple’s lineup, accounting for a 7% share of total sales. According to CIRP, this percentage surpasses that of the SE at launch, although graphics are only available for 2024.

It’s notable that while the iPhone 16 outperformed the iPhone 15, other flagship models in the current series did not reach the same level of success as their 2024 counterparts. The iPhone 16e has been the standout model, and we anticipate this trend will continue into Q2.
