New Delhi:

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is targeting the ₹300 crore milestone at the box office. On its ninth day, Laxman Utekar’s historical drama experienced a notable surge, collecting ₹44 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film achieved an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 56.09% on February 22. To date, Chhaava has garnered ₹286.75 crore in the domestic market, according to the same report.

Chhaava tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Confederacy.

Starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, Chhaava also features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Other cast members include Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Diana Penty, and Divya Dutta.

On Saturday, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s second Friday box office numbers on X (formerly Twitter). He noted, “After a remarkable first week, #Chhaava enters Week 2 with tremendous momentum… Business on [second] Friday surpassed [first] Thursday – showcasing its exceptional retention.”

Predicting that Chhaava will definitely surpass ₹500 crore, the analyst added, “#Chhaava has regularly earned ₹ 20 cr+ on weekdays throughout Week 1 [Monday to Thursday], and with ₹ 20 cr+ on its second Friday, it’s evident that the film will exceed ₹ 400 cr… ₹ 500 cr now appears inevitable.”

Initially scheduled for a December 6 release, Chhaava was delayed to prevent a clash with Pushpa 2, which was slated for December 5. Praising this strategic decision, Taran Adarsh remarked, “The choice to sidestep a clash with #Pushpa2 [on 5 December 2024] has enabled both #Pushpa2 and #Chhaava to fully capitalize on their solo releases… A confrontation would have adversely affected the commercial prospects for both films, especially in #Maharashtra.”

“#Chhaava [Week 2] Fri 24.03 cr. Total: ₹ 249.31 cr,” he stated.

Following a spectacular first week, #Chhaava enters Week 2 with astonishing energy… Business on [second] Friday is *higher* than [first] Thursday – emphasizing its remarkable hold. #Chhaava has consistently delivered ₹ 20 cr+ on weekdays during Week 1 [Monday to Thursday], and with ₹… pic.twitter.com/DfWKwIH3r4
