New Delhi:

Today, two seemingly unrelated murders that occurred 6 km apart in Delhi were unexpectedly solved after the police reviewed CCTV footage. It was revealed that the same group of five juveniles was involved in both cases, according to police reports. A manhunt concluded within 13 hours, resulting in the apprehension of all suspects.

The first incident was reported from New Ashok Nagar. Police received a call at 3 am regarding a man injured in an accident near the Jal Board Treatment Plant. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the man had been stabbed multiple times. He was bleeding heavily and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“When teams arrived near the treatment plant between Kondli Bridge and Dallupura turn, they noticed a significant amount of blood on the main road,” said Abhishek Dhania, a senior police officer, as quoted by news agency Press Trust of India.

A case was registered, and the police began reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas for leads.

By noon, the Ghazipur police received an emergency call reporting a man found dead behind a liquor store in the Paper Market area, the officer stated.

The body was located in an empty plot behind the liquor shop. The victim had severe stab wounds on his thigh and was identified as Ramesh, a 49-year-old resident of Kumhar Basti in Ghazipur.

“CCTV footage from the area captured a distressing scene in which four young men were seen assaulting the victim,” the DCP mentioned. It didn’t take long for the police to link the suspects to the incident in New Ashok Nagar.

Four police teams were assembled to analyze the CCTV footage and track movements using Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras, the officer added. Forensic analysis and video surveillance confirmed that the same group was responsible for both murders, the officer stated.

“The juveniles initially committed the murder in Ghazipur while under the influence of alcohol and subsequently targeted a passerby in New Ashok Nagar,” the officer explained.

The police indicated that the murder in New Ashok Nagar occurred after the one in Ghazipur. The juveniles had gathered at the liquor shop to celebrate a birthday when an argument broke out, leading to Ramesh being stabbed.

They then moved to New Ashok Nagar, where, still intoxicated, they attempted to rob a passerby near Dallupura Road. When the victim resisted, they attacked him with a stab wound and fled the scene.

All juveniles were arrested by 4 pm.
