A severed cable caused a communications outage in Casper, Bar Nunn, and Mills, affecting Spectrum and Verizon Wireless customers. Charter Communications attributed the disruption to a third-party fiber cut that occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Repairs were initiated quickly, and services were fully restored by 7 a.m. MT the following morning. Verizon representatives did not respond to inquiries regarding the incident. This outage echoes a similar citywide disruption in 2017, also due to a cut fiber-optic cable.
CASPER, Wyo. — A communications outage affecting numerous customers in Casper, Bar Nunn, and Mills is attributed to a severed cable.
“A third-party fiber cut late last night resulted in a service interruption for some customers in the Casper area,” a spokesperson for Charter Communications, Spectrum’s parent company, mentioned in an email to Oil City News. “Our engineering team quickly initiated repairs, and services were completely restored by 7 a.m. MT this morning.”
The outage, impacting Spectrum and Verizon Wireless customers, began around 8 p.m. Tuesday and persisted through much of the night.
Emails sent to Verizon representatives on Wednesday morning went unanswered.
A citywide outage in 2017 involving both Spectrum and Verizon was also due to a cut fiber-optic cable.
