Body of Woman Discovered in Suitcase in Haryana, Congress Claims She Was a Party Member

A significant political controversy has ignited in Haryana’s Rohtak after police discovered the body of an unidentified woman in a suitcase near Sampla bus stand. Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra claims the victim is Himani Narwal, a party worker who previously participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra with Rahul Gandhi. The woman’s body, found with a scarf around her neck and mehendi on her hands, appears to be that of a girl aged 20 to 22, suggesting a murder. A significant political controversy has arisen following the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body inside a suitcase in Haryana’s Rohtak, with the Congress party claiming that the victim was one of their workers. The woman’s remains were located in a large blue suitcase close to the Sampla bus stand on Friday, after which the Sampla police station was notified.

The SFL team arrived at the crime scene, and investigations revealed that the victim was estimated to be between 20 and 22 years old. She had a scarf around her neck and mehendi on her hands.

According to Sampla police station SHO Bijendra Singh, it appears that the young woman was murdered and her body dumped on the roadside, with further investigations underway.

“We have been informed about a dead body discovered in a suitcase by the highway, and an investigation is currently in progress. It seems the girl was murdered and her corpse discarded here. We will continue our inquiry and take further action after filing a case. She appears to be between 20 and 22 years old and has just been found; we will identify her and proceed accordingly,” he stated.

The controversy escalated when Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra claimed that the deceased, Himani Narwal, was a Congress worker who had participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra alongside Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi. Batra mentioned that Narwal was quite active with Bhupinder Hooda and Deepinder Hooda during the election campaign.

Congress Haryana president Bhupinder Singh Hooda has vehemently condemned the incident, labeling it a “stain on the law and order situation of the state.” He has also called for a “high-level” and “impartial” investigation into the incident.

“The news of the horrific murder of active Congress worker Himani Narwal in Rohtak is profoundly saddening and shocking. I pay my respects to the departed soul and extend my heartfelt condolences to her family. The murder of a young woman in such a manner, and the discovery of her body in a suitcase, is deeply distressing and represents a serious blemish on the law and order situation of the state,” he stated in a post on X.

“There must be an impartial, high-level investigation into this murder, and the government should ensure justice for the victim’s family as swiftly as possible, delivering the harshest penalties to the offenders,” he added.
