A shocking crime unfolded in Karnataka’s Belagavi today, as a young woman was viciously killed by a man after she declined his marriage proposal. The perpetrator subsequently took his own life at the scene.

Twenty-year-old Aishwarya Mahesh Lohar was found murdered in a home near Nath Pai Circle, where she was residing. The accused, Prashant Kundekar, 29, hailing from Yellur village in Belagavi taluk, had harbored feelings for Aishwarya and had been pursuing her romantically for over a year, according to police reports.

Prashant Kundekar, a painter by profession, had previously reached out to Aishwarya’s mother to express his intention to marry her. However, her mother advised him to prioritize achieving financial stability first, as per sources.

This morning, Prashant visited Aishwarya’s aunt’s residence carrying a bottle of poison. He once more urged Aishwarya to accept his marriage proposal, but upon her refusal, he attempted to force the poison upon her. When she resisted, Prashant drew a knife from his pocket and fatally injured her by slitting her throat.

Aishwarya tragically died from excessive blood loss. Prashant then used the same knife to take his own life, dying on the spot.

Senior police officials, including City Police Commissioner Yada Martin, are currently conducting an in-depth investigation.
