Actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have made headlines today with news suggesting that they may have parted ways after 37 years of marriage.
As reported by Zoom TV, the couple has been living apart for some time. However, no official comments regarding the divorce rumors have been made by either Govinda or Sunita Ahuja.
Sources indicate that the “contrasting lifestyle choices” of Govinda and Sunita Ahuja are contributing factors to their separation.
A report from Bollywood Now stated that Govinda’s alleged involvement with a Marathi actress has contributed to the relationship’s difficulties.
In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita Ahuja shared insights about their living arrangements. She mentioned that they primarily reside separately, as Govinda often spends time at his bungalow due to late meetings and social gatherings.
“We have two houses; our bungalow is situated across from our apartment. I have my temple and my children in the flat. We occupy the flat, while he tends to stay late after meetings. He loves to socialize, gathering a group of 10 people to chat. Meanwhile, my son, daughter, and I live together, but our conversations are limited because I believe over-talking wastes energy,” Sunita Ahuja was quoted as saying.
In light of these ongoing speculations, ETimes reported that “Sunita reportedly sent a separation notice a few months back, but there has been no progress since.”
However, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, addressed these issues in a statement to ETimes, saying, “There have been some challenges between the couple due to comments made by certain family members. Beyond that, there’s not much to discuss, and Govinda is currently focused on starting a new film, which has attracted various artists to the office. We are working towards a resolution.”
During the Hindi Rush interview, Sunita Ahuja chuckled when discussing Govinda’s romantic side. “I’ve told him that in my next life, he shouldn’t be my husband. He never takes holidays. I’m someone who enjoys going out with her husband to savor street food like pani-puri. He spends too much time working. I can’t remember the last time we went out to watch a movie together,” she shared.
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja tied the knot in March 1987, though they publicly announced their marriage after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. They welcomed their son, Yashvardhan, in 1997.
