Apple has released iOS 18.3.2 and iPadOS 18.3.2, addressing a critical security vulnerability exploited in sophisticated attacks. The patch follows an earlier fix from iOS 17.2 that involved malicious web content breaching the Web Content sandbox. Users are urged to update promptly. However, the update automatically reactivates Apple Intelligence, even if previously disabled. After installing, users will encounter a screen prompting them to continue, which restores Apple Intelligence functionality. Those desiring to turn it off must do so manually in Settings, but note that deactivating it can free up to 7GB of storage.
Apple has just released iOS 18.3.2 and iPadOS 18.3.2 for its iPhones and iPads. This update includes a significant security fix addressing an exploit that has been active in the wild. The original vulnerability was first patched in iOS and iPadOS 17.2, with the new update serving as a further remediation.
This exploit enabled maliciously crafted web content to escape the Web Content sandbox. According to Apple, the vulnerability was used in “an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals,” making it wise to apply the update promptly.
However, be prepared for Apple Intelligence to reactivate automatically after the update, even if you had previously disabled it. This behavior is now standard with every Apple update—install an update, and Apple Intelligence will restart, regardless of your preference. If you wish to disable it again, you’ll need to do so manually after each update.
Once the update is installed, you will encounter a splash screen promoting Apple Intelligence, which only provides one option: “Continue.” You must select this option to proceed with using your device, which consequently reactivates Apple Intelligence. To disable it, navigate to Settings > Apple Intelligence and toggle it off. Remember that turning it off can free up to 7GB of storage used for local AI models.
