AirPods Pro 2 Introduce Hearing Aid Features in the UK

Apple has launched a clinical-grade Hearing Aid mode for AirPods Pro 2 users in the UK, following its initial release in the US after FDA approval. Available through an OTA software update, the feature includes a Hearing Test to assess users’ hearing range. Upon completion, users receive a personalized hearing profile that enhances ambient sounds in real time, mimicking dedicated hearing aids. This enhancement applies to phone calls, music, videos, and games across paired devices. Apple intends to expand this functionality to over 100 countries, subject to local health authority authorization.

In September, Apple unveiled a clinical-grade Hearing Aid mode for AirPods Pro 2 users. Initially launched in the US after FDA approval, the feature is now confirmed to be rolling out in the UK.

This hearing aid capability is now accessible through an OTA software update for AirPods Pro 2 users in the UK. Once users update to the newest software version, they will be able to take a new Hearing Test that evaluates their hearing range.

After completing the test, users will obtain a tailored hearing profile that enhances ambient sounds in real-time, much like a traditional hearing aid. This feature is also active during phone calls, music playback, videos, and games across all paired devices.

Apple has previously stated its intention to expand hearing aid functionality to over 100 countries and regions; however, as in the US and UK, it will require approval from local health authorities before the update can be implemented.
