ADOR Addresses Parents of NJZ’s Claims of Interfering with Their Activities: ‘Our Intent Is Not to Limit Them…’

After leaving ADOR in November 2024, NJZ (formerly NewJeans) rebranded and pursued new projects, prompting ADOR to apply for an injunction to restrict their activities due to ongoing song releases and overseas performances. NJZ’s parents alleged that ADOR aimed to block their activities entirely. In response, ADOR clarified that the injunction was meant to uphold their contract and was not intended to restrict NJZ, who continued to operate independently by launching new social media accounts. ADOR denied pressuring concert organizers to cancel NJZ’s performances and plans to address these issues in court.

Months after departing from ADOR, NJZ (formerly known as NewJeans) rebranded and introduced exciting new projects under their updated identity. Recently, the group’s parents issued a statement accusing ADOR of filing for an injunction “to hinder and entirely prevent NJZ’s activities.” They also stated that the HYBE subsidiary broadened “the injunction request on February 11 to seek a ban on not just advertisements, but all musical endeavors, including writing, composing, performing, and singing.”

Following the release of NJZ’s parents’ statement in the press, ADOR released an official response clarifying that they had never sought to obstruct any of the group’s activities on Thursday, March 6 (KST). The agency claimed that expanding the injunction was necessary, as the five-member group continued to release new songs and announced international performances.

“While the intention of the injunction was to maintain the contract status and prevent them from entering into advertisement agreements, they have persisted in releasing new music and scheduling major overseas performances, leaving us with no alternative. This action is not meant to stifle their activities but to support them while honoring the contract with ADOR,” ADOR stated, as reported by Koreaboo.

Reaffirming that they have never pressured concert organizers to cancel NJZ’s performances, the agency added, “As previously stated, we have not coerced any concert organizers or expanded our application as a form of retribution. We will clarify these misunderstandings in court tomorrow and seek a ruling that confirms ADOR’s role as the managing agency for NewJeans.”

This recent statement follows almost a week after NJZ made headlines by launching a new logo and creating social media accounts outside of Instagram, which remain under ADOR’s control. They stirred up considerable excitement by establishing independent channels on X, TikTok, and YouTube, marking a significant step in solidifying their new identity.

Just a day after these announcements, ADOR issued a strong statement regarding NJZ’s latest actions. The agency claimed that these new independent accounts were unauthorized and violated the group’s existing contract. Furthermore, during a live broadcast, NJZ members Danielle, Hanni, Haerin, Hyein, and Minji hinted that they were operating under different management after their departure from ADOR in November 2024.
