Acer is making a smartphone comeback in India with two new models launching on April 15, revealed via a dedicated Amazon India landing page. The devices are the Acerone Liquid S272E4, featuring a 12nm MediaTek chip, 6.75” 720p+ IPS LCD, 20MP camera, and 5,000mAh battery; and the more budget-friendly Acerone Liquid S162E4 with a 6.52” 720p+ IPS LCD and 16MP camera. These phones will be produced by Indkal Technologies, which also manufactures Acer-branded TVs in India. More details are expected to emerge on Amazon’s page soon.
Acer is making its comeback in the smartphone arena with two new models anticipated to launch in India shortly. Until now, a specific launch date was elusive, but the newly unveiled landing page on Amazon India confirms it – the significant event is scheduled for April 15 (Tuesday).
The landing page, however, is rather ambiguous, teasing a “Supercomputer core in your hands” and “AI-powered starlight precision,” which leaves much to interpretation. This is strange, given that the two phones have already been thoroughly disclosed – unless there are additional Acer models in the pipeline that have yet to be uncovered, these two appear to be the main attraction.
New Acer phones are launching through Amazon India next week
The Acer Acerone Liquid S272E4 (now that’s a name to remember) is a budget-friendly device featuring a 12nm MediaTek processor (with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU) and a 6.75” IPS LCD display boasting a 720p+ resolution. It also includes a 20MP camera along with a robust 5,000mAh battery.
The Acer Acerone Liquid S162E4 is positioned even lower, equipped with a 6.52” 720p+ IPS LCD (with a standard 60Hz refresh rate) and a 16MP camera; most other specifications remain similar. The S162E4 (definitely not a mouthful) employs Gorilla Glass 5, while its counterpart features GG4, and the 12nm chipset in this model operates at slightly elevated clock speeds (0.1GHz higher, but it’s still an increase).
Teasers for the new Acer phones
In any case, as we anticipated, Acer isn’t actually developing new smartphones; rather, the Acer brand is being utilized by Indkal Technologies. This name may sound familiar to you, especially if you’re in India, as Indkal manufactures Acer-branded televisions within the country.
Keep an eye on the Amazon India page for updates – more information should be provided in the coming days.
