Among these stars are Charli XCX as herself, Lukas Gage, and James Van Der Beek. However, episode 6 features guest stars who will truly leave viewers stunned.
At this point in the narrative, Benny is facing a dilemma. He has come to terms with his crush, Miles, being straight. He has also confided in his new best friend, Carmen, and is attempting to find the courage to embrace his sexuality. In her supportive way, Carmen insists he needs a Grindr profile and starts messaging potential matches on his behalf. Before long, she sets him up for his first official gay date.
To boost his confidence, Benny has conversations with a Megan Fox poster adorning his dorm wall. Surprisingly, she responds, providing the encouragement he desperately needs. But astonishingly, a talking Fox isn’t the most jaw-dropping cameo in this episode!
After the pep talk, Benny arrives at his Grindr date’s house, only to discover it’s a bleached-blond Matt Rogers. As they sit on the couch together, the atmosphere becomes awkward when Benny admits, “I don’t know if I’m a top or bottom, daddy,” stripping off his hoodie to reveal a leather harness and exceptionally sweaty abs.
As Jered (Rogers’s character) attempts to ease Benny’s nerves, he shares a bit about his first crush, a guy named Davis. When Benny inquires about what happened, both he and the audience are in for a surprise!
“Well, we fell in love and got married…” Jered reveals, as his husband, Davis (played by Bowen Yang), walks out of the kitchen with a large wine glass.
Benny initially worries he should leave. Then things spiral into chaos. “No, we play together, we’re open,” Jered asserts. “So this isn’t cheating,” Davis adds.
What unfolds next is a comedic exploration of open relationship dynamics. Jered explains they refrain from discussing sexual encounters unless the other asks, in which case they must be “brutally” honest. This leads to a fight, with Jered yelling at Davis for spilling wine and Davis retorting, “Our marriage is falling apart, but you’re worried about the carpet!”
When Benny tries to intervene, he gets shut down, branded a “closet case,” and told to “get the fuck out of our townhouse.”
“God, I love when you give dom-top daddy boots,” Jered affectionately says to his husband.
“Yeah? You like when daddy acts a damn fool?” Davis retorts.
“I fucking love it when my daddy acts a fool. God, I’m the dumbest bottom in the world,” Jered replies.
“You’re so dumb, I bet you don’t even know how to read,” Davis jests.
As Davis instructs Jered to open his mouth for a spit, Benny announces he’s leaving.
“Get out!” they shout.
Rogers and Yang are already renowned for their strong (platonic) chemistry on their podcast, Las Culturistas, and in projects like Fire Island and Rogers’s Christmas special, Have You Heard of Christmas?. Thus, it’s even more hilarious to see them as an ultra-kinky, high-strung, non-monogamous couple.
