Apple and Aston Martin Unveil CarPlay Ultra – A Cutting-Edge Infotainment Solution

Apple is launching its next-gen infotainment system, CarPlay Ultra, initially announced in December 2023 but delayed. Aston Martin will pilot its rollout, featuring a teaser showcasing enhanced integration with vehicle systems. CarPlay Ultra customizes both the infotainment screen and instrument cluster, managed by the iPhone, which controls various features like audio, climate, and provides data on advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and tire pressure. Other manufacturers, including Kia, Hyundai, Porsche, and Genesis, are also planning to integrate CarPlay but have not provided timelines. Currently, only select Aston Martin models will support CarPlay Ultra.

Additionally, CarPlay Ultra takes command of vehicle functionalities, including audio and climate controls, and provides insights from the iPhone along with data related to ADAS and tire pressure.

Apple has indicated that manufacturers like Kia, Hyundai, Porsche, and Genesis are also in the process of integrating CarPlay into some of their vehicles, though timelines for this remain unspecified.

For now, only owners of select Aston Martin models will have access to the new CarPlay Ultra.
