Google is set to enhance Android Auto and cars with Google built-in by introducing its AI assistant, Gemini, later this year. Gemini will enable hands-free, button-free voice commands for drivers, allowing interactions similar to those on smartphones but tailored for driving. Users can request directions and find nearby charging stations seamlessly. The assistant will also feature a conversational mode, helping users brainstorm various tasks. Gemini will first roll out to Android Auto, followed by vehicles with integrated Google capabilities. Currently, over 250 million cars support Android Auto, with about 50 models featuring built-in Google support.
Google is set to improve Android Auto and vehicles equipped with Google built-in by introducing Gemini later this year. This AI-driven voice assistant will allow for hands-free interaction, meaning you can keep your hands on the wheel without needing to press any buttons.
Users will be able to communicate with Gemini similarly to how they do on their smartphones, but with a focus on automotive needs. For instance, you could instruct Gemini to guide you to the post office, and then ask it to locate a charging station near a nearby park.
Gemini Live presents a completely new conversational experience. You can engage naturally with Gemini or even explore ideas, such as, “I want to ask my boss for a raise, but how should I approach it?”
Google has announced that Gemini will be available on Android Auto in the coming months, followed by its rollout in cars featuring Google built-in. There are currently over 250 million vehicles compatible with Android Auto, along with around 50 car models featuring Google built-in (no phone required).
