WSJ: Apple is contemplating an increase in prices for the iPhone 17 lineup.

A Wall Street Journal report indicates that Apple may increase prices for the iPhone 17 series, though the decision is not finalized and is unrelated to US tariffs on Chinese imports. Despite a temporary pause in reciprocal tariffs, Chinese goods still face a 30% levy. Apple plans to justify the price hike with design changes and new features, such as the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air and updates to the Pro models’ cameras and charging capabilities. Additionally, Apple is increasing its iPhone inventory in the US, with all new models expected to be sourced from India, where Foxconn will double production.

A recent report from The Wall Street Journal indicates that Apple may be planning to raise prices for the iPhone 17 series. This decision is still under consideration and is said to have no connection to US tariffs on imports from China.

Even with the newly established 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs between Washington and Beijing, Chinese products entering the US continue to face a total levy of 30%. Cupertino will not link the anticipated price increase of the iPhone 17 series to the ongoing tariff dispute between the US and China.

The report, supported by sources familiar with the situation, suggests that Apple plans to justify the price increase for the iPhone 17 by highlighting design enhancements, including the ultra-thin and lightweight iPhone 17 Air, as well as new features. The 17 Pro models are anticipated to feature an updated camera layout, aluminum frame, and reverse wireless charging capabilities.

Apple has been increasing its iPhone stock in the US, with indications that all new iPhones sold domestically will be produced in India. Foxconn is reportedly set to double its iPhone manufacturing in India this year, reaching up to 30 million units.
