A recent leak from Ice Universe reveals that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will measure 3.9mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, making it the thinnest book-style foldable to date, surpassing the Oppo Find N5. Its dimensions are 158.4 x 143.1 x 3.9 mm, making it taller, wider, and thinner than its predecessor. The inner screen bezels will also be thinner, reducing from 1.9mm in the Fold6 to just 1mm. Despite these advancements in design, the Fold7 will retain the same 4,400 mAh battery capacity as its predecessor.
A few days ago, the well-known Chinese leaker Ice Universe (also referred to as Ice Cat lately) revealed the thickness of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. This would make it the slimmest book-style foldable currently available when unfolded, surpassing the existing champion, Oppo’s Find N5, which measures 4.2mm thick.
Today, he has returned with the complete dimensions for the Fold7, reported to be 158.4 x 143.1 x 3.9 mm when unfolded. Compared to its predecessor, it is taller, wider, and of course, thinner. It also outperforms the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, previously Samsung’s thinnest foldable device.
The bezels around the inner folding screen are set to be thinner as well, based on the same source. Shown below is the bezel of the Fold6, reportedly measuring 1.9mm. The Fold7 is expected to reduce this to an impressive 1mm, while the Flip7’s bezel will measure 1.2mm.
With all this in mind, it appears Samsung has finally recognized that its Chinese rivals have a significant advantage in terms of foldable device thinness, prompting a competitive response in this aspect. Unfortunately, the battery capacity will remain unchanged at 4,400 mAh in the Fold7, similar to its predecessor—perhaps it will take another year for Samsung to address that issue as well.
