LOS ANGELES (KABC) — On Friday, Los Angeles police made public bodycam footage capturing the incident when officers fired upon Jillian Shriner, a writer and spouse of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner.

The video depicts Shriner, donned in a Weezer shirt, exiting a residence with a firearm as police were searching for a hit-and-run suspect in the area.

“Drop the gun! Place it down! Put it on the ground,” officers can be heard instructing Shriner while peering over a neighboring fence. The footage reveals officers repeatedly commanding her to relinquish her weapon.

“Ma’am, we are here to assist you,” the police shout.

“You’re about to get shot; it’s the police,” another officer remarks.

Before gunfire erupts, one officer notes: “Hey, she just pointed it. Not at us, but she just raised it.”

“Oh, she racked it!” an officer exclaims.

Shortly after, a series of gunshots can be heard. The police assert the footage indicates Shriner fired her weapon at them.

The LAPD also disclosed a 911 call placed following the shooting, which seemingly illustrates that Shriner believed one of the suspects was firing at her.

“She mentioned there were three men, and one of them shot her, and the police are currently searching for him,” the 911 caller reported. “They have their firearms drawn.”

Shriner can be heard in the background stating: “I had my gun, and he shouted, ‘drop that gun, drop that gun.’ I replied to put down your (expletive) gun. Then he shot me.”

The released video by LAPD is available for viewing here.

The shooting occurred in Eagle Rock on April 8 when LAPD was aiding California Highway Patrol officers in locating three suspects connected to a hit-and-run incident on the 134 Freeway.
