Vivo X200 Ultra Camera Specifications Unveiled Ahead of Release, Features VS1 “AI ISP” with 80 TOPS Performance

Vivo has released a detailed video showcasing the camera features of the upcoming X200 Ultra, set to launch next week. The phone features three cameras: a 14mm ultra-wide and a 35mm main camera, both utilizing the 1/1.28” Sony LYT-818 sensor, with the main camera having an f/1.69 lens and OIS. The 85mm telephoto lens boasts a 200MP sensor with Zeiss APO technology. The device can record 4K video at 120fps from all cameras. It features dual image processing chips, including the AI ISP vivo VS1. An elaborate photography kit with a 200mm add-on lens is also planned.

Vivo has recently shared a 5-minute video presentation showcasing the camera features of the vivo X200 Ultra. Although the official reveal is set for next week (on Monday), the anticipation has been building for weeks, and we already have a good grasp of the key specifications.

The video highlights the phone’s three cameras: 14mm, 35mm, and 85mm. The 14mm ultra-wide and 35mm main lenses both utilize the same sensor, the 1/1.28” Sony LYT-818. The main camera is equipped with an f/1.69 lens, while the ultra-wide camera features an f/2.0 lens with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization, which we’ll discuss further).

The telephoto lens features an 85mm Zeiss APO lens, with “apochromatic” indicating that it is free from color aberrations. Inside this module is a 200MP sensor that allows for zoom capabilities exceeding 85mm.

Returning to the ultra-wide camera, it is equipped with an OIS system capable of correcting up to 2°. When combined with electronic stabilization, this system can deliver impressive performance, as demonstrated in a video back in March.

On the video recording front, the phone can capture 4K footage at 120fps from all three cameras or 4K at 60fps with 10-bit log. Additionally, it supports DCG HDR and offers up to 14 stops of dynamic range, along with log-to-REC.709 conversion LUTs.

vivo X200 Ultra’s video capabilities

You’ve likely heard that the vivo X200 Ultra will incorporate two image processing chips. The vivo VS1 is the company’s inaugural pre-processing chip, branded as an “AI ISP.” With an impressive performance of 80 TOPS and an efficiency of 16 TOPS/W, it stands as a powerful contender. For context, Microsoft requires 40 TOPS for Copilot+ certification. The Snapdragon X Elite (the laptop variant, not the mobile 8 Elite) possesses an NPU rated at 45 TOPS. Notably, the device will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, unlike the Dimensity 9400 found in other X200 models.

Details on vivo X200 Ultra’s VS1 chip

Vivo executives have shared camera samples from the X200 Ultra, including ultra-wide shots and zoom capabilities at 10x, 20x, and 30x, as well as portrait photographs.

The company is also getting ready to launch an impressive photography kit for the phone, featuring a 200mm add-on lens that attaches to the phone’s 3.7x periscope, enabling 8.7x optical zoom and up to 70x hybrid zoom (the teaser noted that 35x/800mm shots are “highly usable”).
