Official Announcement: The CMF Phone 2 Pro Set to Launch Later This Month (Indeed, “Pro”)

Nothing has announced an event on April 28, revealing the CMF Phone 2 Pro and three new TWS earbuds: Buds 2, Buds 2a, and Buds 2 Plus. The CMF Phone 2 Pro will focus on a higher market segment with notable camera improvements over the original CMF Phone, specifically a 50+2MP camera. Speculated features include a 6.3-inch OLED display (1080p+, 120Hz), a Dimensity 7400 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W charging. There is uncertainty about the existence of a standard CMF Phone 2. The event is set for 2:00 BST in the UK.

Last week, Nothing provided a sneak peek of the upcoming CMF phone, hinting at an enhanced camera, though details were sparse. Today, the company revealed that an event on April 28 will introduce not only the new phone but also a set of three TWS earbuds.

In an interesting twist, the phone is named CMF Phone 2 Pro – yes, “Pro”. This implies it will be positioned higher in the market than its predecessor, the original CMF phone. This aligns with the expected improvements in the camera, as the 50+2MP setup was identified as a shortcoming of the CMF Phone 1.

Does this imply that there will also be a standard CMF Phone 2 similar to the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro? Perhaps, but we will learn more on April 28.

The event will also showcase three new TWS earbuds: the CMF Buds 2, Buds 2a, and Buds 2 Plus. Previously, the CMF Buds Pro 2 were launched last year.

Returning to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, we have an extreme close-up. This post teases “a new finish,” yet the visible screws on the back indicate it will still have a removable back cover.

What additional information do we have about the phone? Rumors indicate it could feature a compact design with a 6.3” OLED display (1080p+, 120Hz), powered by a Dimensity 7400 chipset (the previous model had the 7300), and equipped with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 33W charging. Notably, this early information referred to the device as “CMF Phone 2” without the “Pro” designation.

It seems a little peculiar for a smaller phone to carry the “Pro” label, suggesting that perhaps the leak was intended for a non-Pro variant. Regardless, the 6.3” screen size is surprising, given that the original featured a 6.67” display and the parent company Nothing typically does not cater to smaller devices.

Additionally, the event on April 28 is scheduled to start at “2:00 BST”, implying it will take place in the UK.
