UCLA standout Lauren Betts, standing at 6 feet 7 inches, appears small next to her 7-foot-2 younger brother Dylan.

Lauren Betts, a standout center for the UCLA Bruins, has gained attention in the NCAA women’s tournament with impressive performances, including 30 points and 14 rebounds against Richmond. Despite competing against more recognized players like UConn’s Paige Bueckers, Betts, a former five-star recruit and the top high school player in 2022, has shone with her skills. Standing 6-foot-7, she comes from a tall family, with a 7-foot-2 brother, Dylan, a rising basketball prospect. As UCLA faces Ole Miss in the Sweet 16, Betts’ growing prominence might soon rival that of her more celebrated peers in women’s basketball.

Lauren Betts isn’t yet a familiar name among casual sports enthusiasts.

The star center for the UCLA Bruins has been a powerhouse in the initial rounds of the NCAA women’s tournament, achieving 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists against the struggling Richmond Spiders in her latest match, helping her team move on to the Sweet 16.

While other athletes like UConn’s Paige Bueckers, and sadly, her crosstown-rival USC’s JuJu Watkins before her ACL injury, grab more headlines, the 6-foot-7 daughter of former international pro basketball player Andrew might be the top player in the entire tournament.

Interestingly, among her siblings, the former five-star recruit and ESPN’s top high school player of 2022 is shorter than her 7-foot-2 younger brother Dylan, who is emerging as a promising prospect for Cherry Creek High School in Colorado, and ironically also plays for the Bruins. (Max Preps might need to hold off on those Wemby comparisons.)

Their mother, Michelle, also boasts impressive height and played volleyball at Long Beach State, so it’s no surprise that tall stature is common in the family. Their other brother, Ashton, is not shown.

Betts and the top-seeded UCLA team will face off against the No. 5 seeded Ole Miss Rebels, while on the other side of the bracket, Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers, featuring Flau’Jae Johnson, will take on NC State. Again, these are notable names that tend to overshadow Betts.

However, that might soon change if UCLA continues their winning streak.
