Nothing is launching a new Community Edition Project for the Phone (3a), offering participants four briefs: Hardware Design, Accessory Design, Software Design, and Marketing Campaign. From March 26 to April 23, participants can submit ideas, including a new look for the Phone (3a), exclusive accessories, unique UI elements, and creative marketing proposals. Winners will collaborate with Nothing’s team to develop the Phone (3a) Community Edition and receive a £1,000 cash prize. This project follows last year’s successful Phone (2a) Plus event, which resulted in a glow-in-the-dark edition that sold out quickly and won a prestigious design award.
Nothing has launched a new Community Edition Project for the Phone (3a). This time, participants can engage with four distinct briefs, covering design, accessories, software, and marketing campaigns.
From March 26 to April 23, participants can submit their ideas across these four briefs. In the Hardware Design brief, contestants will propose new aesthetics and functionalities for the Phone (3a). In the Accessory Design brief, they are expected to create an exclusive collectible or accessory to accompany the Phone (3a) Community Edition. The Software Design brief will challenge participants to design innovative UI elements like wallpapers, widgets, and icon packs. The Marketing Campaign brief will require the development of a unique proposal covering deliverables such as key visuals, launch moments, or events.

Winners in each category will collaborate with the Nothing team to realize the Phone (3a) Community Edition, and each will receive a cash prize of £1,000.
The 2025 Community Edition Project by Nothing marks the second initiative of its kind, following a similar event for the Phone (2a) Plus last year, which resulted in a glow-in-the-dark version. A limited run of 1,000 units sold out in just 15 minutes and even won a Gold iF Design Award.
