The follow-up to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” titled “The Testaments,” is expanding its cast. Variety has reported that Mattea Conforti is joining the Hulu series as a regular cast member.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel, the series takes place 15 years after the events of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Conforti joins the already announced cast, including Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Ann Dowd, and Rowan Blanchard.

According to the official synopsis, the series portrays a new generation of young women in Gilead. “For these young women, Gilead is all they have ever known, with no real memories of the outside world before their indoctrination. As they face the reality of being married off and leading a life of servitude, they will have to seek both new and old allies to support their quest for freedom and the life they deserve.”

Conforti will play the role of Becka, characterized as “a girl from humble beginnings who attends school with Gilead’s elite. As she matures, she begins to question if she truly desires the life she is being prepared for.”

Conforti’s previous credits include roles in “The Many Saints of Newark” as well as “Frozen II,” “The Viper Club,” and “3 Generations.” She has also starred in series like “NOS4A2” on AMC and “Power” on Starz.

She is represented by Paradigm and Mara Entertainment.

He is an executive producer alongside Warren Littlefield from The Littlefield Company and Steve Stark from Toluca Pictures.
