Huawei Freebuds 6 feature enhanced audio quality and artificial intelligence noise cancellation.

Huawei has unveiled the Freebuds 6, featuring enhancements over the Freebuds 5. The smaller, lighter design retains the water-drop shape and is equipped with a four-magnet dynamic unit and dual drivers for enhanced sound quality. Connectivity improves with a 2.3 Mbps bandwidth, and the Freebuds 6 are optimized based on feedback from over 10,000 users. They connect via the Huawei AI Life app for EQ settings and spatial audio, compatible with select Huawei devices. With a battery life of 5.5 hours (36 with the case), these earbuds support advanced noise cancellation using generative AI. The Freebuds 6 launched in China for CNY 999 ($140).

Huawei unveiled the Freebuds 6 alongside its new Pura X foldable smartphone, and these TWS earphones come with several enhancements compared to their predecessor. The buds retain the water-drop design from the Freebuds 5, but Huawei has successfully reduced the stem’s size and overall weight.

Equipped with a new four-magnet dynamic unit and dual drivers, these earbuds promise clear highs reaching up to 48 kHz and deep bass levels as low as 14 Hz.

Connectivity has also seen improvements in the Freebuds 6, featuring a bandwidth of 2.3 Mbps. Extensive research involving over 10,000 individuals contributed to the design of the semi-open buds and audio optimization.

The Freebuds 6 connect seamlessly through the Huawei AI Life app, which includes EQ settings with two modes specifically tailored for these earbuds. The app also supports Head Tracking Spatial Audio, though it is compatible only with select Huawei smartphones and the native Huawei Music app.

The waterdrop-shaped stem has been reduced in size by 12%, while the earbuds themselves are 9% lighter than their predecessor. Each bud features a 39.5 mAh battery, with the case housing a 510 mAh cell.

This design provides 5.5 hours of music playback on a single charge, extending to a total of 36 hours with the charging case. These figures reflect usage without noise cancellation; enabling this feature reduces battery life by approximately 20-25%.

Regarding noise cancellation, Huawei leverages generative AI for effective multi-channel noise reduction. This technology can accurately identify unwanted sounds in environments with noise levels up to 95 dB or wind speeds of 8m/s, ensuring clear calls even in noisy settings such as lively parties, crowded sports events, and construction zones.

The Freebuds 6 are introduced in China featuring Huawei’s AI agent, Xiaoyi, which can perform tasks such as setting alarms, playing music, providing live translation, and offering navigation assistance.
