Recent photos of iPhone 17 dummies showcase a significant redesign for Apple’s 2025 models. All four versions will feature MagSafe with a characteristic magnet ring. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have distinctive camera islands and a cutout around the MagSafe area, suggesting a metal frame—likely aluminum—with a glass window to facilitate wireless charging. This added metal aims to boost rigidity, while the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will retain full glass backs, consistent with previous models. These design elements indicate a notable evolution in the iPhone lineup, emphasizing both functionality and aesthetics.
Recently, we came across images of iPhone 17 mock-ups, showcasing the significant redesign expected for Apple’s 2025 devices. Today, new images of different mock-ups have emerged, providing intriguing insights into their design.
All four models are equipped with MagSafe – the signature ring of magnets is visible on the back, along with the alignment magnet positioned below it. However, upon closer inspection of the two Pro models, you’ll notice they feature larger and taller camera islands.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max display a cutout around the MagSafe section. Based on earlier reports, the frame is anticipated to be crafted from metal—potentially aluminum this time—with a glass panel integrated into the design.
For a clearer vision of how this might appear, here’s a previous image depicting what is thought to be the iPhone 17 Pro frame.

The additional metal on the back of the Pro models is expected to enhance structural integrity, while the glass section will facilitate wireless charging. In contrast, the backs of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will be purely glass, eliminating the need for a window feature. Historically, all iPhones have showcased glass backs, as seen in various teardown videos.
