WhatsApp is developing a feature for threaded message responses.

WhatsApp is developing a highly anticipated feature: threaded message replies. Once completed, it will apply to one-on-one chats, groups, communities, and channels. This feature will allow users to reply to quoted messages while keeping the responses organized in dedicated threads, making it easier to follow conversations without scrolling through numerous individual replies. However, users will need to tap on a reply to access the thread, unlike on platforms like Reddit where threads appear next to the original message. This improvement will be particularly beneficial in busy group chats, helping maintain context amid rapid discussions.

WhatsApp is actively developing a highly anticipated feature: the ability to support threaded message replies. This feature is currently in the works, and once development is completed (which could take some time), it is expected to be implemented in one-on-one chats, group chats, communities, and channels.

With the introduction of thread support, replying to a quoted message will keep the thread linked to the original message, ensuring that all replies remain organized. Instead of sifting through a lengthy list of separate replies to a message, you will have the convenience of viewing all responses in a dedicated thread, as illustrated in the screenshot below on the right.

However, it appears that to enter a thread, you will need to tap on a reply; the threads will not display automatically next to the original message, unlike on platforms such as Reddit. Whether this approach proves to be more effective in practice is yet to be determined.

This feature will be particularly beneficial in busy group chats, where conversations can quickly spiral out of control. Now, every message will have its own thread of replies, making it much easier to follow the multitude of different discussions within a group without losing context.
