Cricket Canada CEO Salman Khan has denied reports of his arrest and bail on theft and fraud charges, labeling them “completely false.” Recently charged by Calgary Police for incidents from his tenure as president of the Calgary and District Cricket League (2014-2016), Khan asserts that a civil suit evolved into criminal charges without hearing his side of the story. He emphasizes that no evidence has been proven against him in seven years, stating he has documentation debunking the allegations. Khan remains confident in his ability to fight the case, reiterating that he has never been arrested or detained.
Cricket Canada CEO Salman Khan, appointed in January this year, has refuted reports regarding his supposed arrest and release on bail for theft and fraud, calling them “completely false.”
Khan, along with another individual, was charged earlier this month with theft and fraud by the Calgary Police related to his previous role as president of the Calgary and District Cricket League from 2014 to 2016. The case, initially a civil suit, has now escalated to criminal charges.
On the Facebook page of the Alberta Cricket Association, Khan stated: “I see many fake and self-created posts circulating around, and I want to set the record straight. First of all, these are all fake. I have never been arrested, detained, or on any bail. These claims are completely false, and those spreading these rumors will have to answer for it.”
“Here’s the truth: A police complaint was filed against me more than 7 years ago. A police investigator approached me and expressed a desire to hear my perspective and review the evidence I have to defend myself. He mentioned that if I didn’t provide my side, he would proceed with charges. I informed him I would come after Ramadan, but he opted to file charges without waiting to hear my account or review my evidence.”
Khan emphasized that nothing has been substantiated against him in the past seven years, vowing to continue his fight against the charges. “Let me make this clear: They have nothing to prove against me – in 7 years they were unable to substantiate anything in the civil case, and certainly nothing in a criminal case. I possess over 21 transcripts, with the complainant even acknowledging that everything was false.”
“I am not worried at all. I’m prepared to fight, just as I’ve been doing for the past 8 years.”
