New Delhi:
On Monday, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed his immense pride and joy following Team India’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy final.
Adani took to social media platform X to praise the performance of the Men in Blue as they clinched the title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling conclusion at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In his tweet, he stated, “Dominant. Relentless. Brilliant. Triumphant. India Zeals the Deal!”
The official X account of the Adani Group also participated in the celebrations, posting, “Congratulations, Team India, on becoming champions, once again.”
The final match witnessed India setting a target of 252 runs on a slow and turning pitch in Dubai. The Men in Blue started strongly with captain Rohit Sharma aggressively targeting the bowlers while his opening partner Shubhman Gill played a crucial anchoring role. Even though New Zealand bowlers managed to slow down India’s run chase by taking quick wickets of Gill and run-machine Virat Kohli, the middle order led by Shreyas Iyer stabilized the innings.
However, India’s chase was challenging. The New Zealand bowlers, especially the spinners, were persistent, regularly claiming wickets to maintain pressure on India’s batting order. Nevertheless, with captain Rohit Sharma scoring a dynamic 76 off 83 balls and solid contributions from Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya, India crossed the finish line with poise.
Rohit Sharma’s performance, along with the steady efforts of his middle-order partners, was instrumental in securing India’s third Champions Trophy title. This victory is particularly significant, coming less than a year after India’s disappointing defeat in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup final.
Throughout the tournament, Team India remained undefeated. They kicked off their campaign with a strong win against Bangladesh, followed by a commanding victory over Pakistan.
In the group stages, India also outperformed New Zealand to top the group standings before securing a semi-final victory over Australia.
