New Delhi:

On Thursday, the UAE Ambassador to India, Abdulnasser Alshaali, highlighted the significance of Iftar celebrations, stating that it has become “truly special” for him and the embassy.

He noted that the embassy hosted its inaugural Iftar celebration a few years ago, and since then, it has blossomed into a larger and increasingly important event each year.

Speaking to ANI, he remarked, “Iftar has become very special for me, not only for the embassy. We held it for the first time a few years back, and it has continued to grow in significance each passing year.”

Alshaali further stressed that the Iftar celebrations embody the spirit of compassion and values that the UAE is proud to convey to India. He also referenced the inauguration of the BAPS Mandir in Abu Dhabi as a testament to the strong ties between the two nations.

“The Iftar tonight epitomizes the compassion of the UAE… You have witnessed it in the Iftar and in the celebration of the Prophet’s birth; part of it involves participating in the Iftar and the celebration, but equally important is expressing what the UAE represents, encapsulating the values we take pride in and wish to share with India,” he stated.

“And this is also the reason behind the BAPS Mandir’s inauguration in Abu Dhabi, as it reflects the kind of relationship and bond we share with India… (India-UAE relations) are becoming increasingly robust… in the economic, trade, and aviation sectors,” he added.

He also revealed that a high-level visit is planned for April, anticipated to be another fruitful chapter in the ongoing series of high-level discussions between the two countries.

“There is indeed a high-level visit scheduled… it’s taking place in April. We are all eager for it, and we hope it will be another achievement to add to the roster of high-level meetings,” he said.

Earlier that day, the ambassador hosted a Ramadan Iftar celebration at the UAE Embassy in New Delhi.

The event, which was attended by prominent dignitaries, diplomats, government officials, and business leaders, underscored the deep-rooted cultural connections and enduring friendship between the UAE and India.
