Infosys has mandated its technology employees to work at least 10 days a month from the office, effective March 10, 2025, in a push to increase campus attendance. Functional heads communicated that system interventions will limit the approval of work-from-home days. This policy applies to employees at job level 5 and below, such as software engineers and consultants. Non-compliance may result in deductions from leave balances. Infosys aims to enhance team collaboration while maintaining some flexibility. The initiative aligns with similar policies from competitors like Tata Consultancy Services, emphasizing the importance of in-person collaboration.

Infosys has instructed its technology workforce to adhere to its requirement of working from the office for 10 days each month, aiming to encourage more employees to return to the campus. According to the Economic Times, an email sent by functional heads at the Bengaluru-based firm advised their teams to minimize the number of days they request to work from home, starting March 10.
“To facilitate this, effective March 10, 2025, system interventions will be instituted to restrict the number of work-from-home days employees may request each month. These measures aim to ensure adherence to the revised hybrid work expectations while still allowing some flexibility for employees,” the email, which ET reviewed, stated.
Infosys, which employs approximately 323,000 people, has not responded to a request for comments via email. The “system intervention,” as termed by senior management, aims to promote effective collaboration among team members while also providing flexibility, as one executive noted.
“As you are aware, our hybrid work model mandates that employees spend at least 10 days a month working from the office, or as required by business needs, whichever is greater,” the email further explained.
This communication is directed towards employees at job level 5 (JL5) and below. Team leaders are categorized as JL5, while those below that level include software engineers, senior engineers, system engineers, and consultants. Job levels 6 and above encompass managers, senior managers, delivery managers, and senior delivery managers, but do not include vice presidents.
Employees at Infosys utilize a mobile app to track their attendance, which will no longer automatically approve work-from-home requests and will require them to clock in for at least 10 days each month at their designated office location, a senior employee shared on the condition of anonymity.
This is considered more of a project requirement rather than a unit-specific one, another employee added. A third employee mentioned that the previous flexibility significantly reduced commuting time and fatigue associated with traveling to the office, but this change might hinder efficiency for some workers. According to sources, if an employee fails to meet the work-from-office requirement by one or two days, those days will be deducted from their leave balance. In comparison, Infosys’ major competitor, Tata Consultancy Services, has tied its five-day work-from-office policy to employees’ variable pay.
Infosys rolled out its return-to-office policy on November 20, 2023, and ET reported that the outsourcing giant identified specific key weeks each quarter as “in-person collaboration” weeks when all team members are expected to be present in the office and collaborate with one another.
