Demi Moore had a concise reaction after losing the best actress award at the 2025 Oscars to “Anora” star Mikey Madison.
As reported by a lip reader, the star of “Substance” expressed her dismay upon hearing that she did not secure the prestigious Academy Award on Sunday.
“Demi said ‘nice,’ but her expression did not convey happiness,” Nicola Hickling conveyed to the Daily Mail. “Her body language suggested she almost had to force herself to respond that way.”

At 62, Moore appeared visibly shaken and clenched her jaw when she heard the 25-year-old actress’ name announced instead of her own, as captured in a video on X.
Moore and Madison were nominated for one of the night’s top honors, alongside Fernanda Torres for “I’m Still Here,” “Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón, and “Wicked” actress Cynthia Erivo.
After making her way to the stage in a daze, Madison spoke to the audience while holding her Oscar, stating, “This is incredibly surreal. Growing up in Los Angeles, Hollywood always seemed distant, so standing here today feels truly amazing.”

“I will continue to support and stand by them. Meeting incredible women from that community has been one of the highlights of this amazing journey.”
The “Scream” actress also recognized her fellow nominees, stating, “I want to highlight the thoughtful, intelligent, and beautiful work of my competitors. I’m grateful to be recognized alongside each of you.
“This is a dream realized. I might just wake up to find it was all a dream tomorrow.”
