BSP chief Mayawati removed her nephew, Akash Anand, from all party positions during a meeting aimed at strengthening the party. She declared there would be no successor until her death, emphasizing that the party and its movement take precedence over personal relationships. Mayawati appointed her brother, Anand Kumar, and Ramji Gautam as national coordinators for party affairs. Previously, she reinstated Anand after initially sacking him and expelled Ashok Siddharth, Akash’s father-in-law, due to factionalism. The moves signal a shift in BSP leadership as Mayawati focuses on consolidating party control.

Lucknow:

On Sunday, BSP leader Mayawati decided to remove her nephew Akash Anand from all roles within the party and declared that there will be no successor chosen while she is still alive. During a significant meeting attended by party officials from across the nation, aimed at bolstering the party, she also revealed key changes in the party’s leadership structure.

The BSP leader appointed her brother Anand Kumar and Ramji Gautam as national coordinators to manage party affairs nationwide.

The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh stated that she would refrain from naming a successor in the party as long as she is alive, emphasizing that for her, the party and movement take precedence over personal relationships.

Mayawati had previously dismissed Anand last year, only to later reinstate him and designate him as her political heir.

Last month, she proclaimed the expulsion of Ashok Siddharth, Akash Anand’s father-in-law, from the party due to allegations of factionalism and involvement in activities against the party’s interests.

Siddharth, a former Rajya Sabha MP, was expelled alongside Nitin Singh, who was the BSP’s Meerut district in-charge responsible for party operations in the southern regions.
